Artist Marie Louise Kold, who is based in Malta speaks to Newsbook.com.mt about a portrait she created of slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, which she presented to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday afternoon.

Ms Kold, who works with the patination and etching of metals, told Fr Joe Borg that although she is not a political person, she felt she had to make a statement with her work-of-art.

The work of art took 470 hours to make, including research and experiments. While Kobold usually uses chemicals to patinate the metals and achieve different colours, in this portrait she filled in the etched areas with printer’s ink from one of the printing presses that used to print Daphne Caruana Galizia’s words.
