Minħabba numru ta’ rapporti ta’ wirdien jiġru fuq il-karozzi tal-linja Malta Public Transport (MPT) se tkun qed tiddiżinfetta l-vetturi tagħha, skont kelliema għall-kumpanija.

Kelliema għall-MPT qalet ma’ Newsbook.com.mt li l-karozzi tal-linja tagħha jiġu spezzjonati kuljum bħala parti minn programm ta’ tindif. Jekk jinstabu xi insetti, ssir ukoll diżinfettazzjoni.

“Aktar minn hekk, il-flotta sħiħa tiġi ffumigata darba fis-sena, bħala parti minn programm preventiv. L-aħħar fumigazzjoni saret f’Awwissu tal-2018.”

Il-kelliema qalet ukoll li bħalissa qed isir eżerċizzju ta’ fumigazzjoni ieħor fuq il-flotta tal-MPT wara li daħlu rapport ta’ każijiet iżolati ta’ wirdien. Il-kumpanija qalet li jiddispjaċiha għal kull inkonvenjenti li seta’ nħoloq.

Intant, fuq Facebook il-membru tal-Partit Demokratiku Timothy Alden qal li bagħat imejl lill-Ministru għat-Trasport dwar is-sitwazzjoni. Qal li għalkemm il-problema tal-wirdien tista’ tissolva malajr, l-ilmenti tan-nies lil Transport Malta s’issa ma wasslu għal ebda tibdil.

Din hi r-risposta sħiħa tal-kelliema għall-MPT:

Malta Public Transport buses are inspected everyday as part of the cleaning programme implemented by the company, followed by fumigation in cases where cockroaches or insects are detected.

Furthermore the full fleet is fumigated once a year, as part of a preventive programme. The last fumigation was carried out in August 2018 by an independent and reputable company.

Notwithstanding the above, another complete fumigation exercise on all of the fleet is currently underway as a preventative measure, given that a couple of isolated incidents were reported.

The company regrets any inconvenience this may have caused its passengers and assures them that immediate action is being taken.
