The traditional fast-paced procession of the Resurrected Christ in Nadur was cancelled because of strong winds. Nadur resident Joe Muscat explained that the structure of the statute of the Resurrected Christ is suspended in the air without any support and therefore taking it out in such weather conditions is far from advisable.

On a better note, this Easter Sunday, the parish of Cospicua has displaced its Resurrection of Christ’s statute for the first time following its restoration.

This statue was brought to Malta from Naples in 1741. Captain Andrea Scarinù had brought for his fellow captain and friend Celestino Sacco, who then presented the statute to the Fraternity of the Holy Cross in the same year.
