AirMalta has come out strong against the speculative reports that have been published in the local media in relation to its 2017/18 financial report. In a statement, it is saying that such reports are tarnishing AirMalta’s brand.
The national airline is saying that the articles published in the local media, only selected quotes from the report ignoring other parts such as the external auditors report. Therefore it cannot accept accept insinuations such as ‘potentially creative accounting techniques’ and ‘clever book entries’.
The Times of Malta and Malta Today have published their reports based on the AirMalta financial report that had been presented during its annual general meeting. A segment of which said “[the airline] will most likely register operating losses from the continuing operations during the 2019 financial year.”
