A fourth ferry will be added to Gozo Channel’s current fleet. The announcement came from Minister for Gozo Justyne Caruana around the same time that Newsbook.com.mt was asking Gozitan Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Clint Camilleri on the matter.

In a press statement Caruana announced that in the coming days a fourth vessel will be added to the current fleet in attempt to improve commuting between the two islands.

The fourth vessel, Nikolaos, flies a Greek flag and was built in 1987.

During a visit to the vessel, Caruana said that once the need for a fourth ferry was identified, discussions were initiated with the authorities so that the Gozo Channel could increase its fleet.

Earlier on Friday morning Newsbook.com.mt was present at a press conference addressed by Parliamentary Secretary Clint Camilleri. Camilleri was asked whether he was consulted as a Gozitan cabinet member and when will the new ferry be added to the fleet, to which he replied that the discussions at a cabinet level are secret and details could not be divulged.
